One More Month!

I have one more month left until I check-in and start my Disney Adventure! I am beyond excited! I have already started packing up the things for my apartment in rubbermaid containers. So, look forward to a packing blog soon!

The other day my Mom, sister, and I spent time shopping for professional outfits for traditions and training. We found three outfits including my traditions outfit at Dress Barn. I absolutely love all of the outfits! They are all so cute and are perfect professional attire for sunny Florida. Here is a small preview of my traditions outfit:

A big shoutout to my Mom and Dad for providing me with everything I need for my program. I truly have no clue what I would do with out their support.

As this semester comes to an end I have also been very busy with tests, assignments, and final projects. But, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! My graduation ceremony is on May 21st! I am so excited to end this chapter of my life and start the next one at Disney.

Roommates!

I am happy to announce that I have found my roommates! We all met through the Facebook group. There are six of us total. We are hoping to live in a three bedroom apartment in Chatham Square. Ten days before check-in we will be able to choose our living preferences through DORMS.

One exciting thing we all have in common is that we are all graduating!

I will be sharing a bedroom with Kat. She is an education major graduating from Central Connecticut State University. Her role for the DCP is Custodial. We both love country music, especially Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley. We also both love the beach and cannot wait to go when we get settled in Florida.

Merecia and Cati are sharing the second bedroom. Merecia is majoring in Spanish Linguistics and is graduating from the University of Texas. She loves dance and works as a coach at Jump! Gymnastics. Merecia has previously done the DCP working in QSFB, which is her role this time also. So, we could potentially be working together!
Cati is majoring in Business Economics and Political Science and minoring in Financial Accounting. She is graduating from Edgewood College in Wisconsin. Right now she is working as a personal banker. Her DCP role is Main Gate Operations.

Marysa and Melissa are sharing the third bedroom. Marysa is studying English at Saint Joseph's University in Pennsylvania. She loves the Jonas Brothers.
Melissa is majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. She is graduating from High Point University in North Carolina. She is a founder of a chapter in Alpha Chi Omega. Her role is QSFB, so we also might be working together!

I am so excited to meet them all!

Course Registration

Course Registration just opened for the summer semester, which is specifically for Fall Advantage participants. I was able to register for the course that I have been dreaming of taking, EXPLORING DISNEY HERITAGE

The course description is as follows:
"Take a journey back in time to discover the roots of the Walt Disney Company. Learn about Walt Disney the man and his vision by exploring historical milestones."
-Syllabus

I am so happy that I checked the site before going to bed. Everyone on the Facebook page was saying that course registration would open at midnight pacific time, but it turned out to be midnight eastern time

To register you go to the course registration, which is located on the on-boarding site. You will need to enter your last name, e-mail, and telephone number to gain access to the site. Then you will see a list of all the course offerings, both collegiate and seminar. I was then prompted to fill out a survey about my interest in potential alumni speaker series and career development workshops.
After this survey you are able to choose which courses you would like to register for. Exploring Disney Heritage was only available during one time slot, Wednesdays 1:30 - 3:30. I chose register and clicked continue. The next page is either confirming your registration or alerting you that you were put onto the wait list. I am happy to say that I am registered for Exploring Disney Heritage! My classroom is in Chatham Square. The course starts June 28 and ends August 13.
Immediately after enrolling, I received an e-mail confirming my registration, notifying me about course expectations, and explaining how they will be communicating with me.

I will have one more opportunity to enroll in classes, which is the Fall semester. Exploring Marketing is the class I plan on registering for during that time. I am so excited to start learning from the company that I hope to have a long term career with.

Roommate Search

One of the three components of the Disney College Program is Living. This component involves where you are going to live and who you are going to live with. You have four apartment complexes to choose from, Vista Way, Chatham Square, Patterson Court, or the Commons. The best way to choose where to live is to watch apartment complex tours on YouTube. Also, you want to look at the rates for each apartment complex. The rates for Fall/Fall Advantage 2014 are listed below:

The next step is determining how many roommates you would like to have. You can have as little as one roommate and as many as seven. Once you have chosen your ideal living situation it is time to search for potential roommates. This is where joining the Facebook groups comes in handy. There will be a Facebook group specific to your move-in date. All of your roommates need to have the same check-in date, so posting in your specific move-in date group is the easiest.

Making a roommate survey and posting it to the group page is the best way to find roommates that you will get a long with. Remember, finding your roommates is not a race. Chat with a lot of people to truly find roommates that you are going to get a long with and that have common interests.

Once you have your roommates you have to wait until you are invited to set your living preferences in DORMS, which is typically 10 days before check-in. All of your roommates need to input the same preferences and list all of the roommates legal names. Look forward to a complete post on the DORMS process.
